Daya, full name Grace Martine Tandon, is a singer and songwriter from Pennsylvania. Her self-titled debut EP was released in 2015, and her debut studio album came out in 2016. Daya got her stage name from the Sanskrit word for kindness or compassion. She learned to play piano at 3 and started jazz playing at 11. At that time, she enrolled in the Accelerando Music Conservatory in Pittsburgh, where she was invited to work on music in LA. She enjoyed success online, and bloggers supported her work. Daya has multiple awards for her work including a Grammy for Best Dance Recording, a Kids’ Choice Award for Favorite New Artist, and nominations for Best New Artist and Song of the Year from Radio Disney Music Awards.
