About Northwestern Wildcats Football

The Northwestern Wildcats football team represents Northwestern University in the Big Ten Conference and has fielded teams since 1876, winning eight conference titles, most recently in 2000. After the original Ryan Field was demolished following the 2023 season, the Wildcats played at a temporary lakefront facility at Martin Stadium and at Wrigley Field while a new stadium was built on the Evanston site. Fourth-year head coach David Braun, who signed an extension through 2031 in September 2026, went 7-6 in 2025 and won the GameAbove Sports Bowl, then opened 2026 with wins over South Dakota State and Colorado. The new Ryan Field hosts its first game on October 2 against Penn State.
