The Fillmore Philadelphia

Capacity: 2,500

Opened: 2015

Fillmore Philadelphia is one of the East Coast venues under the long-standing Fillmore Auditorium franchise. Fillmore Philadelphia is a multi-purpose entertainment center located in the neighborhood of Fishtown in the city of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Before its opening in 2015, the building was known as the Ajax Metal Company Plant. Constructed in 1833, this plant was used to refine metals before it was closed down in 1944. 70 years later, the location was reconstructed into a music concert venue in Fillmore, Philadelphia.

In 1912, the Majestic Hall was built as a concert auditorium in San Fransisco, California. Almost four decades later, in 1954, the legacy of the Hall as the Fillmore Auditorium started with successful businessman Charles Sullivan. Sullivan is credited with the name change of the venue. After his death, another gentleman, Bill Graham, took over in 1967 as the venue’s promoter and showman. From this point, Fillmore Auditorium became renowned for its psychedelic rock concerts and parties, bringing a diverse audience to the Fillmore district.

The venue's success in San Francisco led Graham to open another branch in Manhattan, calling it Fillmore East. The former was dubbed Fillmore West. Following his demise, loved ones kept his wishes to renovate and restore the original Fillmore Auditorium. The auditorium's continued success encouraged Live Nation to operate a Fillmore venue franchise. Live Nation renamed one of its clubs in Pennsylvania, Fillmore Philadelphia.
