Their 1976 album The Whole World's Goin' Crazy became the first Canadian album to go platinum. International breakthrough followed with the hard rock albums First Glance (1978), Harder...Faster (1979), and especially Nature of the Beast (1981) — their first internationally platinum album — featuring the anthems "Roller," "I Like to Rock," and "Just Between You and Me," which reached number 21 on the Billboard Hot 100 and became the first song by a Canadian artist ever played on MTV. After a hiatus from 1984 to 1992, the band reunited and continued recording and touring for decades. They were inducted into the Canadian Music Industry Hall of Fame (2009), the Canadian Music Hall of Fame (2010), and Canada's Walk of Fame (2023). Myles Goodwyn — the band's creative anchor and sole original member throughout most of its history — died in Halifax on December 3, 2023, at the age of 75; the band continues to tour with longtime member Brian Greenway and the current lineup.
