Darius Rucker is an American singer and songwriter born on May 13, 1966, in Charleston, South Carolina. He first rose to fame as the lead vocalist of Hootie & the Blowfish, whose debut album Cracked Rear View (1994) is certified 21x Platinum and ranks among the top 10 best-selling studio albums of all time, earning the band two Grammy Awards. Rucker launched a highly successful solo country career in 2008, becoming the first Black artist to top the country charts since Charley Pride in 1983. His hits include "Wagon Wheel," "Alright," and "Beers and Sunshine," and he has earned 10 No. 1 singles at country radio. He won his third career Grammy in 2014 for Best Country Solo Performance for "Wagon Wheel" and was inducted into the Grand Ole Opry in 2012. His most recent album is Carolyn's Boy.
