Architects is a British metalcore band that formed in 2004. The group, which hails from Brighton, East Sussex, in England, was put together by twin brothers Tom and Dan Searle. They added Sam Carter, Alex Dean, and Adam Christianson. The band created their first three albums with complex rhythms, chaos, and a coarse sound. They went to a more melodic post-hardcore sound with their fourth album, but that alienated their fan base, so they went back to their old style with their fifth album. Their lasting popularity and critical acclaim came in 2014 with album number six. Tom Searle died in 2016 after living with skin cancer for three years, leaving his twin, Dan, as the only original member. They released the last song Tom worked on, “Doomsday”, in 2017, then recorded their first album without him the next year. Their ninth album was their first to chart on the UK albums charts.
