Emery is a post-hardcore band that formed in 2001 in Rock Hill, South Carolina. The band moved to Seattle to enjoy the music-centered scene that the Emerald City has to offer. They recorded two EPs, then signed with Tooth & Nail Records, where they recorded five studio albums and two more EPs. Their debut album came out in 2004, followed by a second in 2005 and a third in 2006. Once those albums came out, they re-signed with the label and recorded more. Emery, the band’s name, was named after a first grader one of the members met while working as an intern in college. They have toured on their own and with bands like Underoath, whom they followed around in Australia. Emery does not want to be labeled a “Christian band,” But the members are Christian and explore lyrical themes in their music.
