About Modest Mouse
Modest Mouse is an American indie rock band formed in 1993 in Issaquah, Washington, now based in Portland, Oregon. Founded by lead singer and guitarist Isaac Brock, drummer Jeremiah Green, and bassist Eric Judy, the band built a devoted cult following with critically acclaimed albums The Lonesome Crowded West (1997) and The Moon & Antarctica(2000). They broke into the mainstream with Good News for People Who Love Bad News (2004), which went platinum and produced the hit singles Float On and Ocean Breathes Salty. Their 2007 album We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank, which featured former Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr, debuted at number one on the Billboard 200. The band's name is derived from a Virginia Woolf passage. Drummer Jeremiah Green passed away in December 2022.
