Feist is the stage name of Leslie Feist, a Canadian indie pop singer and songwriter born on February 13, 1976, in Amherst, Nova Scotia, and raised in Calgary, Alberta. At age fifteen she founded a Calgary punk band called Placebo and won a local Battle of the Bands competition, earning an opening slot for the Ramones at Infest 1993. After recovering from vocal cord damage in 1995, she relocated to Toronto, where she toured with punk-rapper Peaches and joined the critically acclaimed indie rock collective Broken Social Scene. The Reminder earned four Grammy nominations including Best New Artist. Subsequent albums include Metals (2011), Pleasure (2017), and Multitudes (2023).
