G. Love, born Garrett Dutton on October 3, 1972, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, is an American singer, rapper, and musician best known as the frontman of G. Love & Special Sauce. The band formed in 1993 and quickly gained attention for their laid-back, genre-blending sound, fusing blues, hip-hop, funk, and soul. Their 1994 self-titled debut album on Epic Records included the hit single "Cold Beverage," which received heavy rotation on MTV and alternative radio, bringing the band widespread recognition. Over the years, G. Love & Special Sauce released numerous albums, including Coast to Coast Motel, Yeah, It's That Easy, and the Grammy-nominated The Juice. Dutton has also pursued a solo career, releasing albums under Jack Johnson's Brushfire Records label, and has collaborated with artists including Jack Johnson, The Avett Brothers, and Donavon Frankenreiter. Known for energetic live performances, the band remains active and beloved by fans worldwide.
