Leon Bridges is an American singer-songwriter from Fort Worth, Texas, who taught himself the guitar and began on the open mic circuit in his local area before being discovered and signed to a record deal. His first three studio albums earned him Grammy nominations for Best R&B Album and Bridges won his first Grammy in 2018, with his hit single “Bet Ain’t Worth The Hand” claiming the award for Best Traditional R&B Performance. While Bridges is generally classed as an R&B artist, his music is perhaps more reminiscent of classic soul than of modern R&B, though he certainly gives a nod to other styles as well in his lyrics and sound. He also tends to perform wearing vintage clothing to enhance his connection to soul music. Bridges recently released his fourth studio album Leon (will it earn him his fourth straight Grammy nod?).
