The stylish Barclays Center opened in mid-September of 2012, just in time to welcome the NBA’s Brooklyn Nets as the Borough’s first major professional sports team since the departure of the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1957 (amidst much grumbling across the Hudson River in New Jersey, previous home of the Nets). Along with all Nets regular season and playoff home games, the Barclays Center hosts an extensive calendar of events including concerts, cultural festivals, and other sporting competitions. Food and beverage options are superb at the venue, with a special focus on providing local Brooklyn cuisine (and beer) on site. Visitors can also shop for team and event merchandise or peruse the work of local artists that is frequently on display.

Driving your own vehicle to the Barclays Center is possible, but be conscious that traffic in New York City is legendary, particularly during rush hour or when games or big events are taking place. Bridges and tunnels often become particularly congested. If you plan to drive, aim for an early arrival at the Barclays Center to avoid disappointment.
