Camp Randall Stadium Events

Located in the small central Wisconsin city of Madison, Camp Randall Stadium has been the home of the University of Wisconsin’s football team, the Wisconsin Badgers, since 1895. In fact, the venue derives its name from a military camp that occupied the area during the American Civil War (the camp itself being named after Alexander Randall, once governor of Wisconsin). The site was mostly an informal sports ground with wooden bleachers until 1917, when a proper stadium was built and has stood ever since (making Camp Randall the Big Ten Conference’s oldest stadium). Football fans have seen their Wisconsin Badgers mature from a steady if often overlooked college football program into one of the stronger teams in the Big Ten, with several notable Bowl victories in the past decade. One of the stranger stories explaining the team’s improved fortunes involves a new coat of paint laid on the visitors’ locker room, which changed the color from pink to so-called “prison blue” (after which the Badgers’ home record massively improved). Beyond the action on the field, the atmosphere during Badgers games at Camp Randall Stadium is impressive, the stands packed with cardinal red-clad fans belting out “On, Wisconsin” or leaping wildly to “Jump Around” by the 1990s rap group Cypress Hill (university authorities once tried to cancel this second tradition, but angry student protests led to its reinstatement). Fans also routinely stay after the final whistle for 20-30 minutes to enjoy participating in the so-called Fifth Quarter, where the marching band leads the crowd in such favorites as “On, Wisconsin,” “Space Badgers,” “You’ve Said It All,” “Tequila,” “Beer Barrel Polka,” and, inevitably, the Chicken Dance. Hungry visitors to the stadium will find plenty of savory (and cheesy) snacks, including White Cheddar Mac and Cheese, Brisket Grilled Cheese, Cheddarwurst on a Stick, and street tacos, along with plenty of beer. Those keen on Badgers merchandise will find lots at kiosks and shops in Camp Randall Stadium or around campus. Show up wearing red or not at all!

Camp Randall Stadium Seating Chart

Visitors to Camp Randall Stadium have a wide range of different seating options to choose at this very large venue. Those who prefer a more exclusive and comfortable gameday experience can apply for premium seating in luxury suites, loge boxes, or club seats, all which come with five-star hospitality and amenities, and excellent views of the game. For luxury out in the open air, fans can opt for the lively elevated terrace patio. Huge sections of general admission seating are also available, consisting mostly of (red) bleacher-style seats. For the most affordable tickets to ever-popular Wisconsin Badgers home games at Camp Randall Stadium, visit TicketX to view available tickets and compare prices and locations using our handy seating chart.

Where is the best seating?

There are two types of seating: general seating in the Lower Deck and Upper Deck, which are two-tiered, and South Endzone Premium seating. Seats closer to the field are a bit more expensive, but by starting your ticket search early, you can secure the best seat before the ticket prices go up. On the other hand, Upper Deck seats are recommended for those who are financially challenged. Because they are farther from the field, it is difficult to follow the players' detailed play or your favorite players, but the main advantage is that you can see the entire game in action and a spectacular view of the entire field.

Getting to Camp Randall Stadium (Transportation and Parking)

Visitors can access Camp Randall Stadium via public transportation or driving their own vehicle

Camp Randall Stadium Map

Camp Randall is located inside the University of Wisconsin. The site where the stadium is located has historical significance as it was a training ground for the Union Army during the Civil War, and several signs and the famous stone arches are eye-catching. The exterior of the stadium is obscured by accessory buildings such as UW Field House and McLain Athletic Facility, but there are significant viewpoints, especially at Gate 1, marked by the small "Camp Randall" gate. On the west side, concrete is prominent and the stadium's logo is scattered here and there. When you are lost, you can notice if you are heading to the right direction or not by finding those significant viewpoints. Directions to Camp Randall on the University of Wisconsin campus can be found on this Map, so please use it accordingly to avoid getting lost.

Getting to Camp Randall Stadium via public transportation

While there is no public transportation that goes right to Camp Randall Stadium, visitors can use the Bucky Shuttles from several different parking lots to make getting to the stadium easier (basically, a Park and Ride service).
