50 Cent

50 Cent is an American rapper, actor, television producer, and businessman. He started pursuing the music career and was supposed to release the debut album "Power of the Dollar " which was cancelled later on. Then he was discovered by Eminem, resulting in contract with Shady Records. He released the first major album "Get Rich or Die Tryin'", and his singles "In da Club" and "21 Questions" (ft. Nate Dogg) earned atop on the Billboard Hot 100. He was also certified 9× platinum by RIAA. He received several awards so far including a Grammy Award, a Primetime Emmy Award, thirteen Billboard Music Awards, six World Music Awards, three American Music Awards and four BET Awards.

Awards

Eminem's discovery of 50 Cent in 2002 led to his signing with Shady Records, culminating in the release of his acclaimed major-label debut album, Get Rich or Die Tryin', in 2003. The album soared to the top of the Billboard 200, featuring hits like "In da Club" and "21 Questions," and achieved nonuple platinum status. Following this success, 50 Cent founded G-Unit Records and released The Massacre in 2005, which included another chart-topping single, "Candy Shop." Although his subsequent albums, Curtis (2007) and Before I Self Destruct (2009), saw a decline in critical and commercial performance, 50 Cent returned to his roots with Animal Ambition in 2014. He then shifted his focus towards television and media, executive producing and starring in the series Power (2014–2020) among other projects under his company G-Unit Films and Television Inc. 50 Cent has sold over 30 million albums globally and has garnered numerous awards, including a Grammy, a Primetime Emmy, thirteen Billboard Music Awards, and more. As an actor, he has appeared in significant films such as Get Rich or Die Tryin', Home of the Brave, and Righteous Kill. Billboard and Rolling Stone have lauded him as one of the greatest rappers and artists of the 2000s, further cementing his legacy in the music and entertainment industry.

How did 50 Cent rise to fame?

50 Cent started his rap career in a friend's basement and was introduced to the music industry by Jam Master Jay of Run-DMC in 1996. He learned the essentials of songwriting and recording under Jay's guidance. Despite initial struggles, including being dropped from Columbia Records after a severe shooting in 2000, his mixtape "Guess Who's Back?" caught Eminem's attention in 2002. This led to a record deal with Shady Records, Dr. Dre's Aftermath Entertainment, and Interscope Records. 50 Cent's mainstream breakthrough came with his 2003 debut album, "Get Rich or Die Tryin'," which debuted at the top of the Billboard 200, propelled by hits like "In da Club." His success continued with "The Massacre" in 2005, maintaining his presence in the industry despite subsequent albums facing critical and commercial declines. Beyond music, 50 Cent expanded into business, acting, and television production, notably executive producing the hit series "Power." Despite facing personal and legal challenges, including a shooting in 2000 that nearly cost him his life, 50 Cent's resilience and talent have solidified his status in the music industry, earning him numerous awards and significant sales milestones worldwide.
