Aberdeen FC is a professional football club based in Aberdeen, Scotland. Founded in 1903, the club is commonly known as “The Dons” and plays its home matches at Pittodrie Stadium, one of the oldest football grounds in the United Kingdom. Aberdeen enjoyed its most successful period during the 1980s under manager Sir Alex Ferguson, winning three Scottish league titles, four Scottish Cups, and the European Cup Winners’ Cup in 1983. In the same year, the club also won the UEFA Super Cup, defeating Hamburg. Aberdeen has long been considered one of the strongest clubs outside of Glasgow, consistently competing in the Scottish Premiership and domestic cup competitions.
