Alison Krauss is a singer, fiddler, and music producer who specializes in bluegrass country music. She competed in local contests at the age of 8 and recorded for the first time at 14. Her first solo album came out in 1987 after she signed to a label in 1985. Union Station invited her to join them in 1989 and she has been playing with them ever since. Krauss has 14 albums, but she has also worked on soundtracks like Cold Mountain and O Brother, Where Art Thou? She currently has 27 Grammy Awards to her name, from 42 nominations. She has the fourth largest number of Grammy awards of any musician. Her first Grammy came in 1991 and she was the second-youngest to win at that time. In 2021, the International Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame inducted her. She was born in Decatur, Illinois to German immigrants. While Krauss was into roller skating and wanted to enter the roller derby, she decided music was a better route.
