About Coventry City

Coventry City FC is a professional football club based in Coventry, West Midlands, England. Founded in 1883 as Singers FC, the club adopted the name Coventry City in 1898. Nicknamed “The Sky Blues” because of their distinctive sky-blue kit, they play their home matches at the Coventry Building Society Arena. Coventry City has a proud history in English football, spending 34 consecutive seasons in the topflight between 1967 and 2001. The club’s greatest achievement came in 1987 when they won the FA Cup, defeating Tottenham Hotspur 3–2 (a.e.t) in a memorable final at Wembley Stadium. After periods of financial difficulty and relegation, Coventry has worked to rebuild and return to competitiveness in the English Football League Championship. With loyal supporters and strong community roots, the club remains an important part of Midlands football culture.
