Molly Tuttle is a guitarist, banjo player, recording artist, vocalist, and songwriter. She is also a teacher in the bluegrass tradition. She is known for her guitar talent, complete with crosspicking, clawhammering, and flatpicking. She won the International Bluegrass Music Association’s Guitar Player of the Year award in 2017—the first woman to do so, and she won the same award the next year. She got a Best Bluegrass Album Grammy in 2023 and was also nominated for Best New Artist. Tuttle was raised in Palo Alto and started playing guitar at 8. By 11, she was onstage with her dad, Jack Tuttle, a multi-instrumentalist and bluegrass teacher. She joined the family band, The Tuttles with AJ Lee, at 15.
