About Nevada Wolf Pack Football

The Nevada Wolf Pack represent the University of Nevada, Reno in the Mountain West Conference and were founded in 1896 as the Sagebrushers. The program's defining figure is Chris Ault, a College Football Hall of Fame coach who spent 28 seasons across three stints in Reno and invented the Pistol offense there in 2004. Nevada's peak came in 2010, when Colin Kaepernick quarterbacked the Wolf Pack to a 13-1 season, an upset of third-ranked Boise State, and a WAC title. Home games are played at Mackay Stadium, which sits at 4,600 feet. Jeff Choate enters his third season in 2026 after consecutive rebuilding years.
