Capacity: 17,556
Opened: September 9, 1975
Heritage Bank Center, prominently located in downtown Cincinnati next to the Great American Ball Park, stands out as the largest indoor arena in the Greater Cincinnati region, with a seating capacity of 17,556 people and spanning 346,100 square feet. Opened in September 1975, it has gone through several name changes, from Riverfront Coliseum to its current designation in 2019, reflecting its evolving sponsorship and ownership. The arena boasts a rich history of hosting diverse events, from concerts and political rallies to sports tournaments and professional wrestling, showcasing its versatility as a premier entertainment venue. A significant $14 million renovation in 1997 upgraded the facility extensively, including new seating, expanded concession areas, and modernized concourses and restrooms, enhancing the visitor experience. Further, it introduced a new center-hanging video board, elevating the arena’s technological capabilities. Despite proposals for a more extensive $200 million renovation to increase capacity and modernize the facade, these plans have yet to come to fruition. Heritage Bank Center has a storied legacy in sports, particularly hockey, with the Cincinnati Cyclones (ECHL) as its current main tenant. It has also played a critical role in college basketball, serving as the home court for the Cincinnati Bearcats men's basketball team and hosting numerous NCAA Division I men's basketball tournaments, including Regional tournaments and the Final Four of the 1997 NCAA Division I women's basketball tournament. The arena’s flexibility has allowed it to accommodate college hockey events, including the NCAA Division I Men's Ice Hockey Tournament Frozen Four.
Over the years, Heritage Bank Center has hosted many entertainment events since its inception. Its versatility allows it to be the stage for various performances and sports events. Given its history, the venue is set to continue attracting notable artists and sports performers. Several artists and sports events have already announced their performance shows for this year.
