The T-Mobile Arena opened its doors in 2016 in plenty of time to host the opening home game of its principal tenant, the Vegas Golden Knights, an NHL expansion team that joined the league in 2017 as the first-ever professional sports team in Las Vegas (what other city in the world could get away with calling a professional sports team the Golden Knights…). Expansion teams in hockey (and most other North American professional sports) have historically had to weather a rough few initial years to pay their dues before they can become competitors, but the Golden Knights did what Vegas does best and put all their chips on victory. Incredibly, in their first season, the team delighted fans by not only qualifying for the playoffs but making it all the way to the Stanley Cup Finals. They lost in five to the Washington Capitals, but continued to be serious contenders in the years to come until they won it all in 2023, hoisting the Stanley Cup in front of their own fans at T-Mobile Arena after sealing victory in Game 5 over the Florida Panthers. The Golden Knights’ popularity has continued to soar, with the team frequently selling out T-Mobile Arena. As everyone knows, Las Vegas loves a winner! As well as all regular season and playoff Golden Knights home games, T-Mobile Arena hosts a full calendar of concerts, award shows, beauty pageants, and boxing matches. The UFC has a contract with the venue to provide four events per year. T-Mobile Arena is also hosting the NBA’s first-ever In-Season Tournament in December 2023. Visitors can access T-Mobile Arena via public transportation or driving their own vehicle. Note as well that the T-Mobile Arena is located right on the world-famous Las Vegas Strip between the New York-New York and Park MGM, so if you are staying near that area, it is easy to walk to the venue.
