As home of the Italian Stallion himself, Philadelphia has always prided itself on being a tough sports town, the kind of place visiting teams dread to go. The Philadelphia Flyers quickly became known as the Broad Street Bullies after joining the NHL in 197?, bullying their way to two Stanley Cups and into the hearts of Philly hockey fans (if definitely not into the hearts of many others!). Both the Flyers and the Philadelphia 76ers of the NBA moved from the Spectrum into the Wells Fargo Center in 1996, where they have played all their regular season and playoff home games ever since. The immensely successful Villanova Wildcats men's basketball team, who recently won 2 NCAA national titles in 2016 and 2018, now also play some of their homes games at Wells Fargo. Concerts, cultural festivals, and other sporting competitions are also frequently held at the venue.
