Chicago (the band), is a rock band that formed in 1967 in, of course, Chicago, Illinois. Originally, they called themselves the Chicago Transit Authority but shortened it to simply Chicago in 1968. Their music is described as rock and roll but has elements of pop, jazz, R&B, and even classical music. The original lineup grew out of several other bands from the area in the 60s. As one of the longest-running rock groups, it’s no surprise that Chicago is also one of the world’s best-selling groups, having sold over 100 million albums. They are also a pioneer in the marketing world with a recognizable logo on all of their album covers coupled with a Roman numeral to showcase the number of the album in their lineup. They are in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, as of 2016, and received a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2020.
