Originally named Dying Star with drummer Jeff Fabb, the band expanded with guitarist Blake Bunzel and bassist Josh Newell, renamed themselves In This Moment, and built a following through relentless DIY touring and MySpace before signing with Century Media Records. A Star-Crossed Wasteland (2010) showcased a heavier direction, while Blood (2012) — debuting at number 14 on the Billboard 200 — marked a dramatic transformation incorporating industrial metal, hard rock, and darkly cinematic theatrics into one of heavy music's most visually spectacular live shows. Black Widow (2014, Roadrunner Records) became their highest-charting album, debuting at number 4 on the Billboard 200. Ritual (2017) debuted at number 23. Mother (2020, Better Noise) earned the band's first Grammy nomination for Best Metal Performance for "The In-Between," and featured a cover of "We Will Rock You" with Lzzy Hale and Taylor Momsen. Their eighth album Godmode arrived in 2023. The current lineup consists of Brink, Howorth, bassist Travis Johnson, guitarist Randy Weitzel, and drummer Kent Diimmel.
