KISS is a rock band that came together in 1973 in New York. The band is well known for its face paint and wild stage outfits, along with its shock-rock style and live performances. The band took on comic book-like characters, part of which took them to a new level and made them a pop culture phenomenon. They went through some ‘unmasked’ years in the 80s, where they played without their black and white makeup, but they brought that back around. Over their decades in the industry, the band has won tons of awards, including People’s Choice and MTV awards. They have also been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as of 2014.
