About 5 Seconds of Summer
5 Seconds of Summer (5SOS) are an Australian pop rock band formed in Sydney in 2011, consisting of Luke Hemmings (vocals, guitar), Michael Clifford (guitar, vocals), Calum Hood (bass, vocals), and Ashton Irwin (drums, vocals). The band began by posting cover videos on YouTube before gaining international recognition when One Direction invited them to tour on the Take Me Home Tour in 2013. Signed to Capitol Records, their self-titled debut album (2014) reached number one in 11 countries, including the US Billboard 200. They became the first Australian act to achieve three number one albums on the Billboard 200, with Sounds Good Feels Good (2015) and Youngblood (2018) also topping the chart. Their fourth album CALM (2020) debuted at number two on the Billboard 200 due to a shipping error, while topping charts in Australia and the UK. Known for blending pop punk with rock and alternative influences, they remain one of Australia's most successful musical exports.
