Starting in 2011, Austin’s Moody Theater became the new venue for television tapings of the renowned country music television program Austin City Limits, a showcase for country and blues artists that has been running since 1976 and has featured many of the most famous names in the business over the years. The show, which is produced by PBS, has won numerous awards including the National Medal of Arts and a Peabody Award for its contribution to preserving unique American cultural heritage. The new venue ACL (Austin City Limits) Live at The Moody Theater, has provided the show with improved modern infrastructure and the ability to accommodate a live audience of nearly 3,000 fans. As well as television tapings for the show itself, the venue also hosts other concerts and live performances.
