Home Teams: Texas Rangers (MLB)
Despite still being in the infancy of its tenure as home ballpark of the Texas Rangers after opening in 2020, Globe Life Field witnessed the team’s crowning achievement as a franchise thus far in 2023 when the Rangers defeated their fellow desert denizens, the Arizona Diamondbacks, in five games to win their first-ever World Series. It was vindication for a team that had struggled for many years to find its feet in MLB, making the playoffs just three times in its first 38 years of existence (including no appearances at all for its first 23 seasons). The team nearly made an immediate change from zeros to heroes in 2010 when they made it to their first World Series, but lost to the San Francisco Giants in five. Rangers fans were sure it was going to happen in 2011 when the team had the St. Louis Cardinals down three games to two and 7-5 going into the ninth inning of Game Six. Incredibly, the Cards tied it up at 7-7 and the Rangers ended up losing 10-9 in the eleventh inning despite having led again in the tenth. They then dropped Game Seven to complete the heartbreak. Nowadays, fortunately, coming off the 2023 victory, the atmosphere at Globe Life Field couldn’t be better. Attendances have improved in this new stadium due to the ability of its retractable roof to protect fans and players from the elements when the weather gets hot or rainy. Large glass panels allow plenty of natural light into the stadium even when the roof is closed. As well as all regular season and playoff Rangers home games, Globe Life Field also hosts concerts, college football games, and rodeo competitions. Visitors arriving at Globe Life Field feeling peckish will find plenty of tasty treats, from classic ballpark food like hot dogs, popcorn, and nachos to more creative options like the massive Boomstick Burger (feeds up to four), Flamin’ Hot Cheetos Pretzel, and corn ribs. This being Texas, you can also find many Tex-Mex options as well as plenty of craft beer. For team and event merchandise, head to the kiosks and shops dotted around Globe Life Field.
Globe Life Field is a large venue that offers many different seating options to its visitors. Those who want to experience a game in the lap of luxury can opt for premium seating areas such as classic suites or hall of fame suites (or party suites for those who like to get crazy). Club seats are also available in prime locations throughout the ballpark. All premium seats provide top-notch service and amenities as well as superior views of the on-field action. More affordable options abound throughout the stadium, with moderately expensive seats near the infield and cheaper seats in the upper tiers and outfield bleachers. Visitors can access Globe Life Field via public transportation (sort of) or driving their own vehicle. The stadium is located in Arlington, Texas (alongside AT&T Stadium, home to the Dallas Cowboys of the NFL), approximately 20 minutes by car from downtown Dallas.
There is no direct public transportation to Globe Life Field, but visitors coming in from Dallas can take the train to downtown Arlington and then catch a taxi or shuttle out to the ballpark. Private shuttles operate from various locations in Arlington and Dallas (mostly bars).
Most visitors to Globe Life Field travel to the ballpark in their own cars. Getting there is quite straightforward if you plan your route in advance, but do be aware that traffic tends to get heavy around the stadium parking lots immediately prior to games and big events. Leave early to be sure to arrive well in advance of the start of your event. Head to MLB’s official Rangers website for clear driving directions and maps.
Yes, Globe Life Field is surrounded by huge lots dedicated exclusively to stadium parking. The closest parking lots are dedicated to season ticket holders, Lexus drivers, and premium seat members, but plenty of general parking is also available (overflow parking is available for especially well-attended games and events at nearby AT&T Stadium). Paying on the day is possible (credit/debit card only), but given the location, it is a bit of a risk, so a better option is to purchase prepaid parking in advance. Visit the official Globe Life Field website for parking details and maps. Advance parking passes can be purchased via the MLB mobile app.
Parking around Globe Life Field on a game day will set you back $10-35, depending mostly on the lot that you choose (prices are subject to variation). Off-site parking is not really a cost-saving option given the location (you would have to take a shuttle or taxi to the ground anyway). Head to the official Globe Life Field website and MLB mobile app to search for the cheapest parking rates and to book your prepaid parking pass in advance.
