Home Teams: Orlando Magic (NBA)
The Kia Center first opened the doors in its glittering glass-fronted interior in 2010 as the new home of the NBA’s Orlando Magic. The Magic, unfortunately, have not provided much wizardry of their own since moving into the venue, spending most of the time in the basement of the Eastern Conference looking up at all the much better teams (the Magic did, however, make it to the NBA Finals in 2009, losing in five games to the Los Angeles Lakers, and the Conference Finals in 2010, losing in six to the Boston Celtics). Since then, the team has only appeared in four playoff series, losing all four, thus leaving their fans at the Kia Center desperate for more postseason action. Maybe 2023-24 will see their fortunes improve. Technologically, the Kia Center is one of the most impressive in the world, with the largest “jumbotron” (common term for the large hanging central scoreboard common in North American arenas) in the NBA. Hungry visitors won’t have any trouble finding ample sustenance at the venue, with plenty of tempting options at the Orlando Market, which has an emphasis on Orlando’s diverse local food such as Pattie Lou’s Donuts, Cholo Dogs, and Gringos Locos tacos. Shoppers will find Orlando Magic and event merchandise at kiosks and shops throughout Kia Center.
Along with all regular season and playoff Orlando Magic home games, Kia Center is well known for hosting guest speakers, sporting competitions, conventions, professional wrestling, and concerts featuring such major acts as Nicki Minaj, Tim McGraw, Bryan Adams, the Eagles, Kanye West, and many others. Kia Center has an absolutely jam-packed 2024 schedule of concerts, comedy shows, and other events! Here is a list of just a few of the top 2024 performances at the venue:
