Bloc Party are an English indie rock and post-punk revival band formed in London in 1999 by co-founders Kele Okereke (vocals, rhythm guitar) and Russell Lissack (lead guitar), who met at the Reading Festival. The classic lineup also included bassist Gordon Moakes and drummer Matt Tong. After performing under names including Union, the band settled on Bloc Party in 2003 and signed to Wichita Recordings in 2004.
