Born of Osiris is a progressive metalcore band from Palatine, Illinois, a Chicago suburb, that formed in 2003. The band went through various name changes before settling on their permanent name in 2007. Born of Osiris is based on the Egyptian deity Osiris and the story about his son, Horus. In their early years, the group was part of the metalcore scene in Chicago and released their first demo EP under a former band name. They changed names a few times and after their name became Born of Osiris in 2007, they released their first song, “Narnia,” which later changed names to “The Takeover.” They also switched from post-hardcore to a more deathcore sound and signed with a record label. Their debut album came out in 2009 and members took on other jobs as well, such as starting a jewelry line, teaching music, and creating clothing labels.
