The Kentucky Wildcats men's basketball team represents the University of Kentucky in NCAA Division I competition. Competing in the Southeastern Conference (SEC), Kentucky has the most successful program in college basketball history, holding the all-time record for wins and the best all-time winning percentage. The Wildcats have won eight national championships in 1948, 1949, 1951, 1958, 1978, 1996, 1998, and 2012, and made 17 Final Four appearances. Known for developing NBA talent and attracting elite recruits, the program was historically led by legendary coaches such as Adolph Rupp, who won four titles from 1930 to 1972, and John Calipari, who won the 2012 national championship during his tenure from 2009 to 2024. The team is currently led by head coach Mark Pope, who was hired in April 2024. The team plays its home games at Rupp Arena at Central Bank Center in Lexington, Kentucky. Kentucky remains a national powerhouse and a consistent contender each season.
