About Lamp

Lamp is an indie pop band from Japan that formed in 2000. The members united over a shared interest in British and 60s American music. They began co-writing together, and after recording a demo tape, they had their first show at a small bar in Japan in 2001. They got a record deal the next year and released their debut album in 2003. Their popularity stuck to Asian only in their first decade, and they performed only in those regions. However, in 2021, one of their songs went viral on TikTok videos, and their music spread to the West. The trio is made up of vocalists and multi-instrumentalists Yusuke Nagai and Kaori Sakakibara, and guitarist Taiyo Someya. Someya had a wide interest in a variety of music as a child and went to a folk music club in high school. As Lamp got together, their common interests in music bonded them together.
