About Miami City Ballet

Miami City Ballet (MCB) is one of America's premier ballet companies, founded in 1985 by Miami philanthropist Toby Lerner Ansin, with former New York City Ballet principal dancer Edward Villella as its founding artistic director. Based in Miami Beach, Florida, the company is renowned for its dedication to the Balanchine tradition, with a repertory that has grown to include more than 100 ballets, spanning Balanchine masterworks, timeless classical pieces, and world premieres. Its artistic leadership has included Lourdes Lopez (2012–2025) and current Artistic Director Gonzalo Garcia. MCB performs across South Florida and tours nationally and internationally, with a celebrated 2016 debut at Lincoln Center's David H. Koch Theater. Alongside its company, MCB operates a ballet school for students ages 3 to 18, nurturing the next generation of professional dancers.
