Monaleo (born Leondra Roshawn Gay on April 24, 2001) is an American rapper and songwriter from Houston, Texas who has quickly become one of the most exciting voices in contemporary hip-hop. She first gained major attention in early 2021 with her viral breakout single "Beating Down Yo Block," which showcased her confident flow, bold personality, and Southern rap influences. Her music blends fierce lyricism with catchy hooks and themes of empowerment and self-expression. She followed her initial success with popular tracks like "Girls Outside" and "Suck It Up," and released her debut studio album Where the Flowers Don't Die in 2023. After the 2024 EP Throwing Bows, she released her second album Who Did the Body in October 2025, embarking on a North American tour in its support. Off-stage, Monaleo speaks openly about mental health, including past suicide attempts, and motherhood, which deeply resonate with her fanbase.
