With the five singers having their origin in Pennsylvania, the name Mt. Joy emerged as a result of a mountain that bears its roots in Sam Cooper's hometown, Philadelphia.  The mountain, situated at the Valley Forge National Park, saw the inspiration of Sam and Matt when they were freshmen in high school.

The five-person rock band, which also includes the names of Michael Byrnes, Sotiris Eliopoulos, and Jackie Miclau in the group, officially launched in 2016. Whereas Matt Quin chairs the group as the lead singer, Sam Cooper has a knack for guitar playing.

The five friends, now based in Los Angeles, have continued to participate actively in composing songs, and they're known for their professional and remarkable use of soothing tunes to get their audience into the realm of emotions.

However, with the guitar laced across the body of Sam and with Matt mastering the elements of rock music, it doesn't take long before the crowd is immersed in some rock and roll musical displays.
