Historic Crew Stadium was indeed historically significant in the development of soccer as a professional sport in America, as it was the first ever soccer-specific stadium in the US when constructed to be the home of the MLS’s Columbus Crew in 1999. The success of this venture in terms of improving the game day experience for soccer fans (and players, as anyone who watched early MLS players struggle with American football lines all over their pitch will attest…) launched a trend of new soccer-specific stadiums across the league that continues to this day. The Crew, however, left their old home in 2021 for Lower.com Field, leaving the future of Historic Crew Stadium in doubt. These days, along with housing training facilities and the Crew’s reserve team’s games, Historic Crew Stadium is most commonly used for large scale music festivals and concerts featuring major national and international stars.
Along with reserve team games and training sessions, Historic Crew Stadium now provides a venue for many concerts and performances featuring a wide range of talented musicians and bands from across the musical spectrum. Here are just a few of the exciting concerts and performances coming to Historic Crew Stadium in 2024:
・May 16-19 - Sonic Temple Art + Music Festival (Disturbed, The Original Misfits, Pantera, Slipknot, Evanescence, Limp Bizkit, Judas Priest, and more)
・May 31-June 1 - Breakaway Festival Ohio (John Summit, Kaskade, Tiësto, Two Friends, ACRAZE, Austin Millz, Bob Moses, Cassian, and more)
・Jun 27-29 - Buckeye Motorcycle and Music Rally (Hank Williams Jr., Lynyrd Skynyrd, Brantley Gilbert, Oliver Anthony)
・Aug 8 - Kenny Chesney: Sun Goes Down Tour (w/ Megan Moroney and Uncle Kracker)
Large concerts and music festivals have attracted huge crowds to the Historic Crew Stadium throughout the years, with top performers from all over the world arriving to wow the music-loving public of Columbus. Past performers include NSYNC, Stone Temple Pilots, Dave Matthews Band, Kenny Chesney (many times), Journey, Linkin Park, and many more. When it comes to music and other major events, the Historic Crew Stadium truly has some of the best!
