ORPHEUM THEATRE

Capacity: 1,500

Opened: 1921

The Orpheum Theatre is located at the centre of the neighbourhood of the Central Business District in New Orleans, Louisana. The theatre is a historic and cultural performing arts and events venue. In 1982, the Orpheum Theatre was included on the National Registry of Historic Places. It is currently home to the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra and the New Orleans Ballet Theatre.

Over 100 years ago, when it was founded, the theatre was established for vaudeville entertainment. It hosted silent movies, talkies and live music shows. Today, the theatre is the perfect venue for hosting a variety of spectacular events, ranging from symphonies, all night concerts, concert shows and movie premieres. It is also opened for private events and shows like weddings, seminars, corporate events, Mardi Gras balls and galas.

Since its construction in 1918, the theatre has passed through numerous hands of ownership. From the New Orleans Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra to an entrepreneur in Dallas and later in 2011 to the Orpheum Properties Inc (which is now Axiom Global Properties). Till date, the theatre has remained a cultural heritage of the state of Louisiana.

THE ORPHEUM THEATRE SEATING CHART

The architecture of the Orpheum Theatre is one of its unique features. It is a Beaux Arts Style building. It is one of the few theatres left in the United States of America with a vertical design. The purpose of the design was to allow the audience to have perfect sight lines and experience great acoustics.  The renovations done by Dr. Eric George in 2015 equipped the theatre with a hydraulic floor. This setup allows the theatre to host both concerts and events. For each section of the theatre, the seats have an unrestricted view of the stage.
