Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse might not have the most glamorous-sounding name among NBA stadiums, but it has certainly witnessed some of modern basketball’s most dramatic events. Opened in 1994, the FieldHouse became the new home of the NBA’s Cleveland Cavaliers, a team that had often struggled to find its feet in the league since joining in the 1970s, missing the NBA Playoffs in more years than not. In all four finals, the Cavaliers came up against another rising power in the form of Stephen Curry’s Golden State Warriors, setting up one of modern sport’s most epic championship rivalries, and one of the NBA’s biggest since the days of Magic’s Lakers and Bird’s Celtics in the 1970s and 80s. The Warriors would prevail from three of those encounters, though LeBron and the Cavs did hoist one NBA championship trophy in 2016, coming from 3-1 down in the series to win 93-89 in Game Seven, sending their fans back in the Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse into rapturous celebrations.
