Spokane Veterans Memorial Arena (commonly referred as Spokane Arena) is located in downtown Spokane, Washington. This 12,000-seater arena’s primary duty is to host the home games of the Spokane Chiefs of the Western Hockey League (WHL), the region’s premier junior hockey team, but it is sometimes the venue for NCAA basketball games featuring either (or occasionally both) the Gonzaga Bulldogs and Washington State Cougars. Historically, the Bulldogs have been by far the more successful team in basketball, qualifying for every NCAA tournament since 1999 and even finishing as runner-up on two occasions (2017 and 2021). Spokane Arena is also set to host the First and Second Rounds of the 2024 NCAA March Madness tournament. In total, 4 First Round games will be held in the arena followed by 2 Second Round games, with the two winners qualifying for the Sweet 16 round of the tournament. As well as hockey and basketball games, Spokane Arena is also known for hosting figure skating competitions, bull riding events, circuses, monster truck shows, and conferences, as well as numerous large-scale concerts. Hungry visitors will find lots of tasty snacks at the concessions, with everything from Asian noodles, pizza, and frozen yogurt on the menu, along with plenty of cold beer. Those looking for team or event merchandise should head to any of the many shops and kiosks at the Spokane Arena.
With so many different sports and events being held at the venue throughout the year, there is really something for everyone at Spokane Veterans Memorial Arena. The success of the Gonzaga Bulldogs over the past three decades, however, means that scoring tickets to their home games can be tricky. Tickets to the First and Second Rounds of the 2024 NCAA March Madness tournament, set to be held at Spokane Veterans Memorial Arena from March 21-24, will also be massively sought after.
