TQL Stadium opened in 2021 as the new home of FC Cincinnati, an MLS expansion franchise that joined the league from the USL in 2019. After two seasons in the University of Cincinnati’s Nippert Stadium, a college football ground, the move to TQL Stadium came as a huge relief to the team given the superior experience that this new soccer-specific ground could provide to FC Cincinnati fans. The team itself struggled through their first three seasons of MLS, winning just 14 games in total in that time and thus taking up residency in the basement of the league. FC Cincinnati came up just short in the MLS Playoffs, however, losing the Eastern Conference Final (semifinal) to the Columbus Crew in a heartbreaking 3-2 extra time defeat. The most hardcore supporters, particularly supporters groups like the Hangar 937, Knights of the Bailey, The Pride, and Queen City Mafia, like to fill up the section of the stadium known as the Bailey to wave their blue and orange flags and sing songs to inspire the team.
