Nitzer Ebb is an EBM group that got together in Essex in 1982. The school friends originally named the band La Comedie De La Mort but changed the name to Nitzer Ebb by cutting words and letters and creating something that sounded German without being a real German word. The group released its demo in 1983, and two years later, their producer helped them to set up their own label. They gained a lot of inspiration from post-punk groups in both style and energy. They released more singles and built a reputation in the Industrial Rock scene. The Nitzer Ebb debut album was released in 1987, and they opened for Depeche Mode on the European part of his tour. The group started working on new material in LA in 2007, complete with a retrospective documentary, and they toured the US in 2009 and 2019.
