Penelope Road is an American soul-pop and funk band formed in Atlanta, Georgia, in late 2022, consisting of Max Moore (lead vocals, guitar), Charles Eastman (lead vocals, keys), Koan Roy-Meighoo (guitar, vocals), James Kopp (bass), and Anthony Smith (drums). Moore, Eastman, and Kopp met in high school through a band program, Eastman connected with Moore through All-State Chorus, and Smith joined through a recording session. The band takes its name from the college house on Penelope Road in Atlanta where they lived together and forged their vintage sound. Known for their self-described "stanky funky junk" — a blend of 1970s soul, jazz, yacht rock, R&B, and gospel-tinged harmonies built around two charismatic lead vocalists and tight five-part harmonies — Penelope Road built a devoted following through viral TikTok clips and increasingly legendary jam-heavy live shows.
