The Descendents formed in 1977 in Manhattan Beach, California, as a punk rock band. They gathered more members and in 1979, reformed as a hardcore punk band, which shot them into the “major player” stage of the hardcore scene that developed in LA. The group released 8 studio albums, 4 EPs, 3 compilations, and 3 live albums. Before The Descendents officially formed, two of the members started writing songs on acoustic guitar with a full band in mind. They first called themselves “The Itch” before moving to The Descendents.
