BoA is the stage name of Kwon Bo-ah, a South Korean singer, songwriter, dancer, and actress born on November 5, 1986, in Guri, Gyeonggi Province, South Korea. Widely referred to as the "Queen of K-pop," BoA was discovered by SM Entertainment talent scouts in 1998 at age eleven when she accompanied her older brother to a talent search. After two years of intensive training in vocals, dance, English, and Japanese, she debuted at age thirteen with the Korean album ID; Peace B on August 25, 2000.
