Miami Dolphins

With aqua blue-white uniforms punctuated by highlights of bright orange, along with that iconic leaping dolphin logo, the Miami Dolphins are easily one of the most instantly recognizable franchises in the NFL. Throughout the 1980s and 90s, the Dolphins were blessed by one of the coolest NFL players of all time, quarterback Dan Marino, who shattered passing records with his iron arm and eagle eye. The Dolphins have struggled since Marino’s retirement in 1999, making the postseason just four times in the past two and a half decades. With two straight AFC Wild Card appearances in 2022 and 2023, however, Dolphins fans are hoping their team can go even further in 2024. Get your Miami Dolphins tickets from TicketX and be there to see them make it happen!

Rival Teams

Nothing excites NFL football fans more than when their team takes to the gridiron against one of their biggest rivals. Here are two of the Miami Dolphins’ most significant rivalries.

Miami Dolphins vs New England Patriots

The Miami Dolphinsrivalry with the New England Patriots is actually a fairly long-standing rivalry that reheated in recent years and has remained hot ever since. They are the only two franchises ever to post undefeated regular seasons (14-0 by the Dolphins in 1972 and 16-0 by the Patriots in 2007). The Patriots have had the better of the rivalry overall in the past two decades with their Super Bowl dynasty, but the Dolphins have won 6 out of the teams’ past eight meetings, including both games in 2023. Plenty of pride will be on the line when the two teams meet on October 6, 2024 at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough and November 24 at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami.

Miami Dolphins vs Buffalo Bills

Laces out! While it was actually the Buffalo Bills who suffered defeat at the hands of an improper kick hold, not the Dolphins (don’t turn to Ace Ventura for your NFL history…), both teams have had their share of Super Bowl heartache. This common suffering has done nothing to dampen the ire between the two teams, however, who had one of the most intense rivalries in the NFL throughout the 1980s and 90s. Recent years have seen a resurgence in the rivalry, with the Bills beating the Dolphins in the playoffs in 2022. Fans will be all revved up to see these rivals clash this season on September 12, 2024 at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami and November 3 at Highmark Stadium in Buffalo.

2024-25 NFL Season Predictions

Which Teams Will Go To the 2024-25 NFL Playoffs?

There will be 14 teams that qualify for the Postseason—seven from the AFC and seven from the NFC—and despite an influx of new and talented QBs drafted by teams in the 2024 NFL Draft, expect at least 11 of the same teams in the NFL Playoffs as last season.

So, who are the four that might not make it this time and who didn’t make the Playoffs last year but might in the 2024-25 season? The Buccaneers, Browns, and Steelers may find it harder this time around, with the Falcons, Bengals, and Jets possibly making the Wild Card round.

Last season, the Detroit Lions and San Francisco 49ers met in the NFC Championship Game, and the Baltimore Ravens and Kansas City Chiefs collided in the AFC Championship Game, with the 49ers meeting the Chiefs in the Super Bowl in Las Vegas.

Expect those four heavyweights, along with the Packers, Eagles, Cowboys, and Rams in the NFC and the Texans and Bills in the AFC, to make it back to the NFL Playoffs next season.

Which Two Teams Will Go To Super Bowl LIX and Why?

Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs will be seeking their third straight Super Bowl win. With genius Head Coach Andy Reid, TE Travis Kelce, and a much-improved defense, they are the best team in the AFC and have lofty expectations. The Lions had the Niners on the ropes last year and have steadily improved the last two seasons. They are eyeballing a shot at the Super Bowl and have the skill position players and chip on their shoulders.

So Jared Goff and Detroit (12/1 to win the Super Bowl, DraftKings) could meet the best player in the NFL—Mahomes—and his Chiefs (+550) in Super Bowl LIX at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana, on Sunday, February 9, 2025.

Trade Rumors and Draft Picks

Despite their relative successes last season, the Miami Dolphins are always looking to bolster their roster with free agents, new talent from the draft, and trades with other franchises. Top draft pick Chop Robinson (EDGE) is unlikely to start right away, but should add depth to their list of linebackers. More immediate veteran talent will be needed to plug holes left by departing players like Christian Wilkins and Robert Hunt, and could be found via trades for reported targets like Courtland Sutton (WR) of the Denver Broncos, Khalil Mack (OLB) of the Los Angeles Chargers, and Evan Neal (OT/OG) of the New York Giants.

Hard Rock Stadium

Since 1987, the NFL’s Miami Dolphins have played at Hard Rock Stadium, an apt name for a football venue in a city known as a heat-soaked, hedonistic, hard-partying town. The stadium cuts a striking profile on the Miami skyline with four large white triangular pillars thrusting upward from its flat white roof. While Hard Rock Stadium is an open-air stadium, all seating areas are covered to protect fans from rainstorms and the intense heat of the Florida sun. As well as all regular season and playoff Dolphins home games, Hard Rock Stadium is also the home of the NCAA’s University of Miami Hurricanes, as well as an astonishing lineup of concerts, international soccer matches, MLB baseball games, tennis tournaments, and motorsports events. Hard Rock Stadium has hosted six Super Bowls (though sadly never one featuring the Dolphins) and is scheduled for several soccer matches during the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

How to get to Hard Rock Stadium

You can get to Hard Rock Stadium using public transportation if you take the Brightline out to Aventura Station, then catch a free shuttle to the stadium. Most visitors, however, prefer to arrive in their own cars (or a taxi), which is fine as long as you arrive early to avoid pre-game traffic jams. Huge parking lots surround Hard Rock Stadium, but it is still highly advised to book a prepaid spot in advance ($25-50). Visit Hard Rock Stadium’s official website for maps, driving direction, and detailed parking information.

Hard Rock Stadium Bag Policy

The Hard Rock Stadium bag policy states that fans can bring in bags made of clear plastic (maximum size: 12" x 6" x 12" in size), diaper bags, and small bags and fanny packs (maximum size: 4.5" x 6.5"), empty reusable drinking containers (up to 32 ounces), and empty Camelbak hydration packs (no pockets). Bags may be searched and X-rayed.

Hard Rock Stadium Rules

There is a lengthy list of rules at Hard Rock Stadium to ensure a safe and fun day for all at the stadium, though most of them are common sense.

  • Bag Searches - all visitors entering the stadium may be searched and should be prepared to open their bags for inspection.

  • Alcohol - any guest who appears to be 30 years old or younger will be asked to provide photo ID when being served alcohol. One person may purchase a limit of 2 alcoholic drinks at one time.

  • Laptops/Tablets - these devices are permitted (maximum size 12” x12” x 12”) but must not be carried in a case.

  • Noisemakers - noisemakers (horns, whistles, vuvuzelas) and musical instruments are not allowed in the stadium.

Visit the stadium’s A-Z guide page for a full list of rules at Hard Rock Stadium.
