About Cannons

Cannons is an American indie pop band formed in Los Angeles in 2013, consisting of vocalist Michelle Joy, lead guitarist Ryan Clapham, and keyboardist and bassist Paul Davis. Childhood friends Clapham and Davis began making music together in elementary school, while Joy relocated from Florida to Los Angeles and connected with them through a Craigslist ad. Their sound blends dreamy synth pop with elements of 1970s disco, 1980s funk, and indie rock, anchored by Joy's breathy, ethereal vocals. The band built an independent following before breaking through to mainstream audiences when their song "Fire for You" was featured in the Netflix series Never Have I Ever in 2020, subsequently reaching No. 1 on the Billboard Alternative Airplay chart in 2021. They are signed to Columbia Records and have released four studio albums: Cannons (2017), Shadows (2019), Fever Dream (2022), and Heartbeat Highway (2023). Their music has also appeared in the TV series Lucifer and Ballers, and they continue to tour internationally.
