About Denver Summit FC

Denver Summit FC is an American professional women's soccer club based in the Denver metropolitan area, competing in the National Women's Soccer League as one of two 2026 expansion teams alongside Boston Legacy FC. The club was officially awarded the NWSL's 16th franchise on January 30, 2025, with an ownership group led by IMA Financial Group CEO Rob Cohen and reportedly paying a league-record expansion fee of $110 million. The team name was selected through a fan vote generating over 15,000 submissions, with the crest featuring a red sky and yellow sun nodding to Colorado's sunsets and red rock formations, and green mountains angled at 26 degrees to mark the inaugural year. Notable investors include alpine skiing champion Mikaela Shiffrin, Peyton Manning, and Mellody Hobson. Nick Cushing, formerly of Manchester City Women, was named inaugural head coach in July 2025. The team played its home opener at Empower Field at Mile High, setting an NWSL attendance record of 63,004, and plans to open a purpose-built 14,500-seat stadium in Denver's Baker neighborhood in 2028.
