Geordie Greep is an English musician, singer, and songwriter born Geordie Wade Greep on August 20, 1999, in Walthamstow, East London. He is best known as the frontman and lead guitarist of Black Midi, the critically acclaimed British experimental rock band he co-founded in 2017 after meeting bandmates Matt Kwasniewski-Kelvin, Cameron Picton, and Morgan Simpson at the BRIT School. Black Midi built their reputation performing at Brixton pub The Windmill — the only venue to respond to Greep's emails — before signing with Rough Trade Records in 2019 and releasing three studio albums: Schlagenheim, Cavalcade, and Hellfire. Following Black Midi's indefinite hiatus in August 2024, Greep launched a solo career and released his debut album The New Sound on October 4, 2024, via Rough Trade Records. Recorded partly in São Paulo with Brazilian musicians, the album draws on Latin rock, jazz, prog, and gospel.
