Samia is the stage name of Samia Najimy Finnerty, an American indie rock singer-songwriter born on December 12, 1996, in Los Angeles, California. The daughter of actress Kathy Najimy — known for Sister Act and Hocus Pocus — and actor and musician Dan Finnerty of The Dan Band, she was raised in New York City, where she began writing songs and performing at open mics in her mid-teens. She also pursued acting, appearing in the off-Broadway premiere of Sarah DeLappe's Pulitzer Prize-nominated play The Wolves in 2016 and in a guest role on Fox's Gotham in 2017. She released her first music in 2017 and signed with Grand Jury Records, releasing her critically acclaimed debut album The Baby in 2020.
